Jerry Vaughn was born in Arizona and grew up in Arizona and Oklahoma. His family roots were in the western life, ranching and rodeo. Junior rodeo was a family affair and many happy hours were spent in the arena. As an adult, Jerry was an active team roper. This lifestyle has had significant influence on his art. When you look at one of Jerry's western sculptures, he wants the cowboy to recognize that they are correct and everyone to see that he captured the spirit of the subject.
A self-taught artist, Jerry discovered his passion for sculpture in his thirties. He continued to work on his skill and artistic ability and has reached a time in his life where he can devote all his energy to art. Jerry's first love is western art but he is reaching out to more diverse styles.
In spite of previously being a part-time artist, Jerry has been accepted into several juried art shows over the years, including Western State Horse Show Expo Western Art Show in Sacramento, CA, where he was awarded the People's Choice Award and a 1st Place award, Grand National Rodeo Western Art Show in San Francisco, CA, Phippen Western Art Show and Sale in Prescott, AZ, Empire 100 Western Art Show in Tucson, AZ, Mountain Oyster Club Art Show in Tucson, AZ, and Red Bluff Bull and Gelding Art Show in Red Bluff, CA where he received the 1st Place award.
Home base is now Weatherford, TX but Jerry is planning on a lot of travel to Art Shows all over the country and hopes to meet you all somewhere along the way.
