Born in the Midwest, Curt had the good fortune to have inherited art talent from his Swedish-born maternal grandfather who was a fine artist, sculptor and furniture maker.
As a developing artist, Curt majored in fine art at the University of Illinois with a minor in advertising.
His skills quickly matured under the tutelage of instructors Frank Gallo, Peter Bodner and Billy Morrow Jackson.
His career as a painter took a back seat when he landed his first job in advertising at TLK where he started his prolific award-winning career with subsequent stints at DMB&B, Leo Burnett, DDB Chicago and Euro RSCG Tatham. As a creative director, he helped build many brands both global and domestic. He created the longest running campaign in Anheuser-Busch’s history with “This Bud’s for You” and put Red Lobster on the seafood dining map with the award winning campaign, “For the Seafood Lover in You.”
Despite his success in the ad world, his passion for art never waned. He kept up with his painting and mixed media commissions through the years. After 25 years Curt decided to get serious about his painting after a film production trip to the Southwest desert re-awakened his passion for landscapes and Native American culture. This expanded into a deeper love for the great American landscape.
He has created paintings, mixed media and drawings that have sold at a number of fund-raising auctions. His paintings hang on the walls of corporate organizations and many private collections throughout the country. His work was featured in the September 2011 American Art Collector Landscape Art Today––Preserving Places: Collecting Landscape Art.
Curt has recently been represented from 2012-2015 by Spencer Art Gallery in Charleston, South Carolina.
