I love painting people…..and this has come to be expressed in my paintings in many ways. For years I focused on portrait painting as a way to study people, focusing on the expression of features, likeness and body language. From there, I moved to figures, staging romantic scenes with girls walking through a meadow, or lounging with a book.
A trip to Europe inspired me to start painting street scenes. I try to select scenes that feature the way people like to spend their time -a long lunch with a friend, a walk down a sidewalk dappled with shadows, shopping downtown or in a quaint neighborhood, lighting and activity always providing the interest for the painting.
